Bev Barney began her insurance career with a large Mutual Insurance company in the Midwest and quickly was promoted to a position of leadership, serving in various management roles within the company, including underwriting, human resources and agency operations. She joined Coapstick Insurance Agency in 1983, where she became an agency owner and served as its Vice President until the agency was acquired in 2006. Bev joined Brown and Brown when Mavum Risk Management became a Brown and Brown company in December 2010.

Bev earned both her Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) designation and her Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation which demonstrate her commitment to education within the insurance industry. She holds both Property & Casualty and Life & Health agent licenses.

Bev is a member of Independent Insurance Agents of Indiana (IIAI), where she currently serves on its Executive Committee and Board of Directors. She represents the state's member agencies as its Director on the IIABA National Board, where she serves as Chair of the Steering Committee. Bev also served as National Director of the Trusted Choice Board, the branding arm for independent agents. Bev is a past president of IIAI.

Bev and her husband, Terry, have been married thirty years and reside in Frankfort. They enjoy spending time with family, especially their daughter who was recently married and lives in South Carolina. They are active in Antioch Congregational Church.
